About Our Site

This site utilizes XHTML, a streamlined version of HTML, for data formating, allowing for smoother transitions and faster loading speeds. CSS controls the presentation of the data and the layout.
PHP facilitates the dynamic aspects, enabling the website to load only the necessary content via the server-side language.

The opening presentation includes Flash elements randomly picked during the loading sequence. The presentations use Actionscript, the Flash programming language. Javascript is utilized for general browser control. Enabled mySQL data basing, as well as the transmission of data from the site through email gives additional capability for content management.

Boudell Web Works: About Our Team

Our web development work began primarily with educational and often voluntary online experiments. We created sites and forums for hobbyists, artists, musicians and educators. We then expanded our role to include a wide variety of small and regional businesses as our own business grew.

Ever since, our skills have continued to evolve to meet the needs of our clients and a growing demand for web presence and interactivity at reasonable prices. We want our clients to feel at home with their websites, so we strive to meet client expectations with good communication and genuine collaboration. We expect the website to reflect that collaborative work and endeavor to make it so.

Our lead graphics designer has over fourteen years of computer graphics design experience and has worked in many professional graphics settings, from service bureau, photo-retouching, logo, cover and web design to prepress for large scale printing. Our writer/researcher has created presentations for several secondary and higher educational sources, as well as assisted in the content development for our small business websites.

Getting Started With Boudell Web Works

First, contact us through this site. By answering a few questions about your needs, expectations and target audience, we will develop a web solution that works well for you. During our first meeting, an agreement is made, regarding the nature of the work desired and outlining the expectations of both the client and developer. Work on your website will begin after a deposit on the work has been made and cleared.

As a Boudell Web Works customer, you will be able to review the work as it unfolds. At each major stage of development, you will have the opportunity to check the progress, request corrections and make minor edits. Major revisions, new content, etc., not requested in the original agreement, may require an amended agreement and the payment of additional fees.

Pricing

Boudell Web Works offers several approaches to pricing, making it possible for the small business client to make their first move on the web without breaking their budget. BWW uses package pricing containing the basic elements to give your business web presence. When more design elements or interactivity is required for an expanding enterprise, we can offer a flat price rate, depending on the elements needed.

Boudell Web Works can work with client-provided content or generate content for the site from scratch. When the client provides the material, assurances are given to BWW that the client has secured the necessary copyrights for such use. The development and design of basic content varies in price, depending on the materials used and the expected exclusivity of the content. Content generated from stock photography or music, for example, will cost less than original content. The team at Boudell Web Works has experience generating original animation, graphics, music, research and written content. Contact us to discuss our current rates for content generation.

Images
Boudell Web Works optimizes images for the web to reduce file sizes for faster loading of the websites. Larger images and higher resolutions may be requested as required for gallery portfolios, given the appropriate server settings and connections.
You can provide your own images for your website, or we can produce them for you. Our team can create original graphics customized for your business or create an image generated from already existing elements. Does your business already have a strong business identity? Boudell Web Works uses leading edge programs for graphics and web design and development. We have 15 years of experience using these cornerstone programs for content generation, customized for the web or for print.
Boudell Web Works utilizes Adobe products for design and development; although we can accept content in a variety of formats. We primarily use Illustrator, Photoshop, and Dreamweaver for graphics and web design development. Flash, a dynamic authoring environment, is used to create animations, video, audio, etc. for dynamic presentations.

While employing some of the time-saving features of commercial design and development software, Boudell Web Works can generate code by hand as well, streamlining code into more elegant forms and providing an important skill in detecting errors induced by third-party design tools.

Photoshop
Boudell Web Works uses Photoshop in every site for graphics and animation elements, our lead designer has over fifteen years of expeirance using this prduction utility.

Keeping Your Website Up to Code.
Boudell Web Works writes code to web standards and our sites pass the W3C (the web standards commission) tests. We keep our code current using the latest techniques for a safer website infrastructure. While we build websites customized to your expected audience, increasing usability, we also seek to improve accessibility and can offer a number of ways your website can be tailored to fit alternative devices and readers.

PHP
PHP is a server side language, meaning the server, where your site is parked, processes the code and delivers either the content requested or processes the data entered by a form system. This generally means less processing is required on the user's system and typically improves the speed and performance of a website.
XHTML
This version of HTML is employed rather than the standard version as it is faster-loading and less encumbered than standard HTML.
CSS
Css is a collection of rules that effect the XHTML to control the style of a website, allowing for greater, more flexible or more streamlined presentation. Background colors or images, font size and style, image positioning and more can be directed through this stylesheet language.
Actionscript

Scalable Designs for Developing Websites.
Need to upgrade your existing website, bringing greater functionality and interactivity? Boudell Web Works understands you need a website that grows with you. We can offer modular, functional design options that can make the most of what you already have and build upon it in manageable ways.

We want you to be comfortable with your site. You have to determine what level of interactivity is appropriate for your site and your business and whether you have the time and personnel to manage that level of interaction. If you aren't yet comfortable managing your email, you might want to avoid overly complicated e-commerce solutions, opting instead for a simpler notification system.

Perhaps you prefer a form mailer allowing clients to send comments through a form on the website which is then delivered your chosen email address. With your visitor's permission, you could use the information from the form to generate a list of email addresses for newsletters or sales notices. You also might like to be able to generate that newsletter yourself, based on a template designed in your website's style. Boudell Web Works helps clients accomplish these tasks through collaborative planning and customized design.

Another way to expand the functionality of a website is through the use of schedulers. Schedulers can greatly enhance appointment setting. A client can request an appointment directly through the website, if the timeslot is available, a request can then be emailed to you for confirmation. Schedulers are also handy for listing upcoming events and highlighting important dates.

Moving beyond schedulers, Boudell Web Works can also create shopping carts as well as product inventories. When you're ready for purchases, you may elect to utilize PayPal purchasing or you may already have access to links provided by other merchant payment (credit/debit card) processors affiliated with your business. Some clients want the most basic sites with the least amount of interaction involved. This attitude often changes as website owners become more familiar with the technology and appreciate all the Internet can do for their business. Generally used in conjunction with a mySQL database, a content control system is an interface allowing for easy access in updating site text and images. (FrontPage is an example of a proprietary content control system; however, many of it's features work only for Internet Explorer and do not display properly on other browsers.) As referred above html newsletters can be sent via email to your clients who choose to recieve it, it keeps the clients informed as to the opertaion of the bussiness as well as keeping you in the clients mind.
Schedulers
If your bussiness utilizes a client schedule as a operating tool, this can be what you need on your web site, it allows that client to request an appointment, if the timeslot is open a request will be emailed to you.
Template Engines
Need to constanly update you site with new products and services this maybe for you, it creates a single preformatted page to be added to the site that will inform your clients of changes and new items.
Content Control Systems
This is a system built into you site that alows you to control the content in designated areas as your bussiness changes, it is generally used in conjuction with the mySQL data Base.

Instructions for new clients.
You should receive an email containing your login username and password for your preview website. This utility gives Boudell Web Works clients the ability to see their site unfold as it is developed and the ability to confirm any changes that need to be made. At each major stage of completion, you will be prompted to review your site and notify us of any corrections and minor edits.

Major revisions, not specified under the agreement, and additions or changes not based on corrections may require an additional charge. Corrections and changes requested AFTER you have approved work may also require an additional charge, so take the time to thoroughly review the site material. You have two weeks following site completion to submit change requests before payment is expected.

The site will be launched once the payment has cleared, assuming site hosting and domain names have been secured and relevant information has been forwarded to Boudell Web Works. Please note site launch and functionality depends, in part, upon the host server; Boudell Web Works cannot be held responsible for server-related problems, such as downtime, maintenance or security.
