We can also use several search engine marketing techniques to promote your site and its content, enhancing your site's visibility on the web. Rankings on search engines depend on several factors, including competition, location, design and intended audience, as well as additional promotions via third-party add campaigns. Everything from file names to written content has an impact on originality, visibility and rankings. The more original the content and the more often it is updated and changed, the better the rankings in general. To that end, Boudell Web Works offers a range of marketing and web development options, all designed and employed with your goals in mind. Page8: Digital Design and Content Services Boudell Web Works produces quality websites with a focus on utility as well as design. We create sites that navigate easily and command attention while providing purpose for your visiting clients and customers. Dyanmic Web Site To enhance the experience for each visitor, Boudell Web Works creates dynamic websites which respond to individual user input. Not only do dynamic websites adapt to user-provided information, they also allow for easier content and style updates than traditional HTML and help ensure style consistency throughout the website. Images Boudell Web Works optimizes images for the web to reduce file sizes for faster loading of the websites. Larger images and higher resolutions may be requested as required for gallery portfolios, given the appropriate server settings and connections. You can provide your own images for your website, or we can produce them for you. Our team can create original graphics customized for your business or create an image generated from already existing elements. Does your business already have a strong business identity? Then your website will be designed to complement the business media you already use. If you are both new to business and new to the web, we can help you build your business identity from letterheads and logos to brochures and websites. New Media New Media refers to any digital data (and the technology supporting that data) that can be transmitted through a network whether it is an .mp3 audio file, a Flash video file, a PDF document or GIF animation. Interactive PR with today's new media can include blogs, video-sharing sites and social networks, all opportunities to promote your website! Boudell Web Works can help create your very own network and new media domain or help you to connect existing networks and services to your customized website. Audio and Video Music lends atmosphere to a website. For some websites, such as sites for local bands, music might be the main attraction. Whether you want soft ambient tones for the background or streaming video of your latest performance, we can work with you to set the right tone for your audience. Videos can inform as well as entertain. Showing your product or service in action offers incentive for visitors to investigate further. Perhaps there is great history and craftsmanship in how your product is made or you want to show how easy your product is to use. We work with videographers to get your video web ready, based on the specifications of your server and projected bandwidth restrictions. Animation Boudell Web Works employs Flash as a authoring environment for animations, including the animations for this site. Animations can utilize photography, vector graphics, text and audio in combination to create an outstanding presentation, designed to complement your site in style. Layout and Design This is the basic presentation of the site and is the intrinsic cornerstone on which the rest of the media is layered. Its foundation uses everything in art and design from color therory to font control. The approach to layout and design will depend on your intended audience, whether you expect the interaction to be traditional and the layout basic for a formal brochure-type website or whether you expect more playful interaction and dynamic designs like you might expect for an informal entertainment site for children. Taking the time to get to know your tastes and expectations helps Boudell Web Works create a site well-matched to your interests and your audience. Copy and Research Search engine rankings are primarily text-driven, so even with the fanciest multimedia, your site might be overlooked if you don't also have relevant text. Many businesses provide written copy based on already existing advertising media. However, many clients new to the web or new to business may know what they want to promote and may even have all the images they need, but find the business of writing content about the product or service daunting and time-consuming. Boudell Web Works can research background material related to your website's purpose and provide text that is rich in keywords, while still sounding natural and staying topical, all desirable qualities for search engine rankings. Databases Whether you are keeping a list of members for your password-protected site, your upcoming dates and events or your entire product inventory for an online store, databases help to make it happen. Databases store and organize information relevant to your business and are capable of presenting this information in a variety of forms. Information from a product on the inventory database could be combined with purchaser information to create an invoice specific to that purchase, to generate a coupon based upon the product selection and to predict future inventory needs. Databases can also be used to give greater content control over the website and make future updates easier. Page9: Design in Action. Boudell Web Works uses leading edge programs for graphics and web design and development. We have 15 years of experience using these cornerstone programs for content generation, customized for the web or for print. Boudell Web Works utilizes Adobe products for design and development; although we can accept content in a variety of formats. We primarily use Illustrator, Photoshop, and Dreamweaver for graphics and web design development. Flash, a dynamic authoring environment, is used to create animations, video, audio, etc. for dynamic presentations. While employing some of the time-saving features of commercial design and development software, Boudell Web Works can generate code by hand as well, streamlining code into more elegant forms and providing an important skill in detecting errors induced by third-party design tools. Photoshop Boudell Web Works uses Photoshop in every site for graphics and animation elements, our lead designer has over fifteen years of expeirance using this prduction utility. Illustrator As with Photoshop, Illustrator is a cournerstone utility that is employed with evry site created through Boudell Web Works. Dreamweaver We use Dreamweaver to author the basic web site, we have over tren years of expeirance using this fine utility. Flash Flash is the dynamic authoring environment which allows the user to create animations, video, audio while adding a scripting environment for dynamic presentations. Page10: Keeping Your Website Up to Code. Boudell Web Works writes code to web standards and our sites pass the W3C (the web standards commission) tests. We keep our code current using the latest techniques for a safer website infrastructure. While we build websites customized to your expected audience, increasing usability, we also seek to improve accessibility and can offer a number of ways your website can be tailored to fit alternative devices and readers. PHP PHP is a server side language, meaning the server, where your site is parked, processes the code and delivers either the content requested or processes the data entered by a form system. This generally means less processing is required on the user's system and typically improves the speed and performance of a website. XHTML This version of HTML is employed rather than the standard version as it is faster-loading and less encumbered than standard HTML. CSS Css is a collection of rules that effect the XHTML to control the style of a website, allowing for greater, more flexible or more streamlined presentation. Background colors or images, font size and style, image positioning and more can be directed through this stylesheet language. Actionscript The native language utilized by Flash for everything from content control to to dynamic animation. Javascript A scripting language for client-side web development, JavaScript utilizes programs available on the visitor's browser and system. Actions of a website's display based on cursor position, such as the appearance of pop-up menus or attention-getting arrows, can be achieved through JavaScript. mySQL The standard open source databasing option that works in conjunction with PHP to save and retrieve data. mySQL databases can be used to create password protected areas, for content control, product indexing, purchasing, organizing email marketing campaigns and more. Ask Boudell Web Works how a database can help maximize your website's productivity. Page11: Scalable Designs for Developing Websites. Need to upgrade your existing website, bringing greater functionality and interactivity? Boudell Web Works understands you need a website that grows with you. We can offer modular, functional design options that can make the most of what you already have and build upon it in manageable ways. We want you to be comfortable with your site. You have to determine what level of interactivity is appropriate for your site and your business and whether you have the time and personnel to manage that level of interaction. If you aren't yet comfortable managing your email, you might want to avoid overly complicated e-commerce solutions, opting instead for a simpler notification system. Perhaps you prefer a form mailer allowing clients to send comments through a form on the website which is then delivered your chosen email address. With your visitor's permission, you could use the information from the form to generate a list of email addresses for newsletters or sales notices. You also might like to be able to generate that newsletter yourself, based on a template designed in your website's style. Boudell Web Works helps clients accomplish these tasks through collaborative planning and customized design. Another way to expand the functionality of a website is through the use of schedulers. Schedulers can greatly enhance appointment setting. A client can request an appointment directly through the website, if the timeslot is available, a request can then be emailed to you for confirmation. Schedulers are also handy for listing upcoming events and highlighting important dates. Moving beyond schedulers, Boudell Web Works can also create shopping carts as well as product inventories. When you're ready for purchases, you may elect to utilize PayPal purchasing or you may already have access to links provided by other merchant payment (credit/debit card) processors affiliated with your business. (Boudell Web Works is not responsible for the quality or security of such payment processing sites.) Some clients want the most basic sites with the least amount of interaction involved. This attitude often changes as website owners become more familiar with the technology and appreciate all the Internet can do for their business. As website owners begin to desire more involvement and control over their sites, content control systems become important. Generally used in conjunction with a mySQL database, a content control system is an interface allowing for easy access in updating site text and images. (FrontPage is an example of a proprietary content control system; however, many of it's features work only for Internet Explorer and do not display properly on other browsers.) As your e-business grows, Boudell Web Works can give you the keys to jump in the driver's seat and get in the fast track. Form Mailers Used for everything from enableing your clients to contact you through your site, to emailing a newswletter out to clients who sign up to recieve it. Newsletters As referred above html newsletters can be sent via email to your clients who choose to recieve it, it keeps the clients informed as to the opertaion of the bussiness as well as keeping you in the clients mind. Schedulers If your bussiness utilizes a client schedule as a operating tool, this can be what you need on your web site, it allows that client to request an appointment, if the timeslot is open a request will be emailed to you. Template Engines Need to constanly update you site with new products and services this maybe for you, it creates a single preformatted page to be added to the site that will inform your clients of changes and new items. Content Control Systems This is a system built into you site that alows you to control the content in designated areas as your bussiness changes, it is generally used in conjuction with the mySQL data Base. Page12: Instructions for new clients. You should receive an email containing your login username and password for your preview website. This utility gives Boudell Web Works clients the ability to see their site unfold as it is developed and the ability to confirm any changes that need to be made. At each major stage of completion, you will be prompted to review your site and notify us of any corrections and minor edits. Major revisions, not specified under the agreement, and additions or changes not based on corrections may require an additional charge. Corrections and changes requested AFTER you have approved work may also require an additional charge, so take the time to thoroughly review the site material.
